Each of the 400 proprietary evaluation criteria used to analyze web sites are defined. This alone provides an invaluable checklist. They are accompanied by examples and recommendations for best practice. Here are a few of the highlights:
Navigation Being able to find information on a site is as important as the information itself. Site navigation begins on the home page where buttons or links for the main sections of the site should appear. Only 42% of the sites surveyed in 1998 offered global navigation and 22% offered local navigation. None of the sites provided in-page direction buttons consistently throughout the site. In 1999 sites were better, but not much!
